The breed's ancestry actually goes much further back than that!
Records show that dogs closely resembling the Shih Tzu existed in China as early as 1000 B.C.
Incredibly, these dogs were likely the ancestors of the Shih Tzu some 3000 years ago!
Whew, with a past like that, maybe that's why Shih Tzu puppies seem so old and wise!
